Menstrual Hygiene and Health Management

The onset of menstruation means a new phase – and new vulnerabilities – in the lives of adolescents. Yet, many adolescent girls face stigma, harassment and social exclusion during menstruation. Menstrual health and hygiene interventions can help overcome these obstacles. Not only do they fulfil the unmet demand for menstrual hygiene products; they also protect dignity, build confidence, and strengthen sexual and reproductive health, particularly among adolescents. So we along with SAAHAS, a Non-Government Organization conducted a workshop at Sujana Vidhya Mandira campus about the importance of “Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management” for the 8th,9th and 10th classes’ girls on 21/02/2025. Sessions were taken by Dr.Shanthi, Gynaecologist., by discussing , interacting about different kinds of issues related to the personal health and hygiene and how to contribute themselves to save environment. Even reusable cloth sanitary napkins’ kit and fruits were distributed to all the girls.

They offer numerous benefits beyond physical fitness, contributing to academic performance, social skills, and overall well-being. UDYATAM is the Annual Sports Week conducted in the school premises. Benefits of Sports in School: * Physical Health: Regular physical activity through sports helps students maintain a healthy weight, strengthens their cardiovascular system, improves bone density, and reduces the risk of chronic diseases. * Mental Health: Engaging in sports can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It releases endorphins, natural mood boosters, and promotes a sense of well-being. * Academic Performance: Studies have shown a positive correlation between physical activity and academic achievement. Sports can enhance cognitive function, concentration, and memory, leading to improved academic performance. * Social Skills: Team sports foster teamwork, cooperation, communication, and leadership skills. They provide opportunities for students to interact with peers, build friendships, and develop social connections. * Self-Esteem: Participating in sports and achieving goals can boost self-confidence and self-esteem. It teaches students the value of perseverance, resilience, and overcoming challenges. Types of Sports in School: Schools offer a wide range of sports to cater to diverse interests and abilities. Some common sports include: * Team Sports: Volleyball, Throw ball, Kabaddi, Kho Kho. * Individual Sports: Athletics, badminton. Shotput, Javeline Throw. * Indoor Sports: Chess, carrom. Encouraging Sports Participation: Schools play a crucial role in promoting sports participation among students. They can achieve this by: * Providing adequate infrastructure and facilities * Offering a variety of sports options * Employing qualified coaches and trainers * Organizing regular sports events and competitions * Encouraging parental and community involvement By prioritizing sports in schools, we can create a healthier, happier, and more well- rounded student population, laying the foundation for a brighter future.
